How Deep Do Earthquakes Occur?

Most earthquakes happen close to the surface, but in subduction zones they can strike hundreds of kilometers down. Each point below is a real M4.5+ earthquake tracked by EarthPulse. This is a depth cross-section, not a map — horizontal position carries no geographic meaning.
